This ray box set provides an inexpensive solution to the problem of equipping laboratories for individual student work in optics and color investigation. It can be used to perform experiments such as reflection, refraction, focal length determination and color mixing. A ventilated die cast alloy with baked enamel finish, lamp house having an open front with extended sides, finned externally for heat dissipation and vertical internal grooves to accommodate a slit plate and a cylindrical lens. It has a light source comprising a 12V lamp in a holder with 1 meter of twin flex wire having 4mm banana plugs. It comprises of a cast base with an integral fixed pillar for the collimator support and a swinging telescopic arm, both of which are fitted with an axis adjustment system. The moving telescopic arm with a spring loaded vernier moves slowly over a machine engraved degree plate of 180mm dia, with graduations of 0-360 x 1. The vernier reads to 0.1 or 6 seconds and allows pupils to estimate angular positions to 0.05, with fine adjustment. Optically coated achromatic objectives of 25mm dia are fitted into the collimator and the telescope tube and have a concealed helical action focusing device. The 10X Ramsden eye piece has a cross reticle. Prism table of 75mm dia is leveled with the help of three adjusting knobs. It is fitted with a clamp for holding a prism upto 38mm high and a diffraction grating holder of 25mm aperture. To help place the prism accurately, lines are marked on the table. All the parts are either plated or have a baked enamel finish. Includes a magnifying eye glass and a tommy bar for axis adjustment. Prism and diffraction grating not included.

This spectrometer is designed with enhanced features for obtaining better quantitative light experiment results. It consists of a heavy cast base with a pillar for collimator support. The telescope arm moves along a 150mm dia, graduated, fixed circular plate. This plate has a double ended Vernier with a least count of 30º for better and accurate measurements. Fine adjustment is obtained by using a knob while the coarse adjustment can be done manually. Both the collimator and the telescope are mounted with an axis adjustment system. The telescope has a 10X Ramsden eye piece which is fitted with a cross wire. Coated achromatic objectives of 32mm dia and 178mm focal length are fitted into both the telescope and the collimator to provide light for a brighter and sharper image. The 6mm long collimator slit is specially designed for retention of initial accuracy during the life of the instrument. The prism table of 75mm dia is held with the help of a clamping screw which enables the table to be rotated in any required direction. It has lines and concentric rings marked to help position the prism in relation to leveling screw. It is fitted with a clamp for holding prisms upto 38mm high and a diffraction grating holder of 25mm aperture. Includes a magnifying eye glass, tommy bar for axis adjustment and flannel cloth. Prism and diffraction grating are not included.
